Whatever happened to Sunday Lunches? It used to be the great famiiy gathering of the week. When I was a child my father would always go to the pub in the morning (somtimes we'd all go) and then return to a wonderful meal of roast beef or lamb or chicken with lovely fresh vegetables, often picked from the gardenm and followed by an apple crumble or something. In the afternoon we might watch an old Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers movie on our tv, or else I'd go out for a walk up to the Tithe Barn or out to the countryside.
It changed over the years but still was , in my consciousness anyway, the centre of family life with a meeting of the different generations. But it's slowly faded away. Today for example, the only family interaction was a Whats Ap exchange about Liverpool beating Arsenal. Anyone want to meet next week?
